Who We are

Blue Iris Photography is a professional photography studio in Ballston Spa, New York. It was started in 2008, by Linda who has a Masters in N-6 and Special Education. She was a Special Ed pre-school teacher for many years before becoming a photographer. With her creative photography style and passion, she bought an 1860’s farmhouse with 3 picturesque acres in 2011. She used one room as her studio and had props everywhere all over the entire house! Within several years, she totally outgrew her small studio. She and her new husband then added on a spacious 1000 square foot studio with lots of windows and tall 16 ft ceilings. It has tons of closets and shelving for her growing collection of high end clothing and vintage props.

Though Maternity and Newborn sessions are our absolute obsession, we also specialize in many other important sessions for families with children. This is important, because it is best when your baby can begin to feel comfortable and can form a more trusting relationship with their photographer, with each new session. So the best of all worlds, is when you can go to one photographer for a Maternity session and continue to be thrilled with your photos at each stage of your child’s life. That in a nutshell is our absolute goal, as we get very attached to our clients and their growing families!

After the newborn period, we offer three important baby milestone sessions (and also have a money saving Baby’s First Year plan). We do very exciting First Birthday sessions, with or without a themed cake smash. Then there are our full custom family sessions for whenever you would like to update your family’s photos. Or perhaps parents would like to take advantage of our lower priced Mini-Sessions each Spring, Fall or in November for the Holidays. No matter what your child’s age, we have props galore and a fun bag of tricks for each gender and developmental level.
